Located in New York, Next Step, has the knowledge and experience to provide quality barefoot trimming for horses, minis, donkeys, mules and draft- with your whole horse in mind.
Education: EqAT Certification Training in the Equinextion Barefoot Trimming method. BS in Agricultural Sciences from Cornell University Owner and Riding Instructor at Everwild Stables.
Continue my education in trimming by studying with several local professionals, other barefoot trimmers such as Pete Ramey and participating in clinics. In addition I spend countless hours furthering my understanding of anatomy, bio-mechanics, and whole horse management so that my trim best suits your horse's individual needs.
I have been working with horses for over 15 years, manage a riding stable, an active equine event planner, ride dressage and trail. I am a Level III Riding Instructor Certification with specialization in jumping from the Certified Horsemanship Association.
Shirley H. Writes: I was very pleased with the quality of Shelley's work. She returned my call in a timely fashion and set up a convenient date right away. She was on time, did an excellent job on my horses feet, and very professionally explained things as she went along. Her price was comparable to the others that I have used, but I thought it a great value considering the time and effort she put into the work she did. She will be my farrier from now on.
Lori H. Writes: Shelley does a great job and is wonderful with the horses. She is always on time and really cares about her work. My horses' hooves are looking great and they are healthy and happy! I would definitely recommend her to anyone wanting to keep their horses barefoot.
Megan M. Writes: Next Step delivers kind, strong and confident hoof assessment and adjustment, with the horse's welfare in mind, not the owner's wallet. Highly recommend. Very happy with my horses' results.
Maggie W.Writes: Had Shelley in to do my horses for the first time last wk. She was just what i was looking for for my flighty horse who can give issues...she was patient and connected with the horse instead of forcing the horse. Have already set up my next appt for November here in the Dansville area. Would highly recommend:)
Kristl Writes: I just had the best experience with Shelly Walker. When using a new farrier, one expects to find someone knowledgeable about all things hoof, but also one that fits with your horse. Shelly demonstrated a wonderful kindness that fits with my young TB horses. She has a good sense of horses and demonstrated patience and kindness wins over even the most nervous of Horses in my barn. I would recommend her to those who truly love their horses and want a pleasant Farrier experience. Thank you Shelly!
